Home Care Jobs in Parkland County, AB with Serving Hands Senior Care

We offer in-home care for our local seniors residing west of Edmonton in the Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Parkland County communities. Our caregivers and labourers are a special and vital part of our clients’ daily living. They are the consistent people that our clients build trust with and rely on the most to function effectively and safely while remaining in their private homes. Specifically, we are looking to fill evening & weekend shifts and holiday coverage. NOT A CARE FACILITY.

Health Care Aid/Companion

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting clients with activities of daily living, personal care, and other health care tasks (includes but is not limited to – personal hygiene, oral care, skin care, toileting, and bathing)
  • Home support activities including meal preparation, cooking, housekeeping, laundry (including bedding), and shopping
  • Assists with providing medications to clients which have been prescribed by the physician
  • Transfers clients in/out of bed, to/from wheelchair and chair using one person or two person assist, or mechanical lift as per Client’s care plan
  • Observes and reports any changes in a client’s functional and cognitive behavior to appropriate supervisor
  • Reports any appetite and/or fluid intake changes to their supervisor
  • Completing tasks with a high level of professionalism, expertise, and competency
  • Ensuring clients are safe and comfortable
  • Finding creative and effective solutions to improve client’s quality of life and wellbeing
  • Reporting and documenting necessary items appropriately and in a timely fashion
  • Responds to clients requests and/or needs promptly and appropriately
  • Assisting clients to and from scheduled appointments
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure clients receive holistic quality care

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Health Care Aide certificate (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Excellent communication (orally and written), organizational, and team skills
  • High attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Ability to provide compassion, empathy, and understanding to the client
  • Ability to problem solve through critical thinking and self-education
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job including knowledge in appropriate ergonomics
  • Enthusiastic attitude and energy to provide excellent care and service on behalf of the company

Required Skills & Credentials:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Have a reliable vehicle
  • Clear vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • English fluency
  • Basic computer literacy
