Key Responsibilities of Our Caregivers

Serving Hands Senior Care caregivers provide compassionate, high-quality support to seniors in their own homes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal care tasks such as personal hygiene, oral care, skin care, toileting, and bathing.

  • Providing home support services including meal preparation, cooking, housekeeping, laundry (including bedding), and shopping.

  • Assisting with the administration of physician-prescribed medications according to care plans.

  • Safely transferring clients in and out of bed, wheelchairs, or chairs using one- or two-person assists or mechanical lifts as outlined in the client’s care plan.

  • Observing and reporting any changes in clients’ functional or cognitive behavior to supervisors promptly.

  • Monitoring and reporting changes in appetite and fluid intake.

  • Performing all tasks with a high level of professionalism, expertise, and competency.

  • Ensuring clients are safe, comfortable, and supported at all times.

  • Finding creative and effective solutions to enhance clients’ quality of life and well-being.

  • Accurately documenting and reporting client information in a timely manner.

  • Responding promptly and appropriately to clients’ requests and needs.

  • Assisting clients to and from scheduled appointments.

  • Performing other related duties as assigned to ensure holistic, personalized care.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Candidates applying to join Serving Hands Senior Care as caregivers must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate or equivalent from an accredited institution.

  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Clear Criminal Record Check required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with excellent organizational and teamwork abilities.

  • High attention to detail and thoroughness in all caregiving duties.

  • Ability to provide compassion, empathy, and understanding to clients and their families.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills supported by ongoing self-education.

  • Capacity to meet the physical demands of caregiving, including knowledge of proper ergonomics and safe client handling techniques.

  • Enthusiastic attitude and energy, dedicated to delivering exceptional care and service on behalf of Serving Hands Senior Care.

Required Skills & Credentials

To provide excellent care and service at Serving Hands Senior Care, candidates must have:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Reliable personal vehicle for transportation to client individual homes and possible errands.

  • Fluency in English for clear communication with clients, families, and the care team.

  • Basic computer literacy skills for documentation, scheduling, and communication purposes.
