What Does Companion Care Mean?

Companion care is a type of home care that provides non-medical services for seniors or adults with disabilities. Older adults often struggle with loneliness, housekeeping, and getting to appointments. Companion care can help with these tasks so seniors can stay in their homes longer.

For those who need additional support beyond companionship, our personal care services can provide help with bathing, dressing, toileting, and other daily activities.

How Our Companion Care Services Work

Home companion care services allow seniors to maintain their independence by helping with tasks such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, running errands, transportation, and social interaction. Typically, a caregiver visits on a set schedule, whether that’s a few hours a week or every day.

For those who require overnight or continuous support, our 24-hour home care services might be a better fit to ensure complete safety and comfort.

Companion Care vs. Personal Care

It’s common to confuse companion care and personal care services. Here’s how they differ:

Companion care focuses on social companionship, light housekeeping, and transportation or errands.

Personal care includes all of that plus support with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
